One doesn’t simple walk onto the pitch at a World Cup test game and become an overnight success. It’s through hard work and determination that the most unlikely successes are born. And it’s through grassroots level, local events, that afford opportunities for these stars to shine.
Back in 2019, in collaboration with Blue Circle Media, we were able to follow the inaugural Cape Premiere League cricket event – a tournament that allowed school age cricketers to compete together with both club and national level professionals. Teams were selected in an auction event similar to that of the IPL, but on a provincial level, representing various regions of the Western Cape region.
The mini-series premiered on Supersport, and tracked the progress of the various teams and players as they competed for the glory to become champions of the CPL for the year.
